Calista Mutharika, previously the First Lady and currently serving as Malawi’s high commissioner to Kenya within the UTM party of the Tonse Alliance, has switched her allegiance to the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
Calista is poised to participate in the upcoming 2025 elections in the newly delineated Bunda Constituency under the banner of the MCP. The UTM party, once a prominent force, appears to be on the brink of fading out by 2025, as its activities have dwindled significantly, and its leader faces well-known legal obstacles in contesting the 2025 elections.
