The MCP leadership has been encouraged to strongly denounce the barbaric political tactics employed by certain individuals associated with a shadow MP vying against Minister of Trade and Industry Sosten Gwengwe in Lilongwe. A video clip shows a disturbing incident where two coffins were procured following the death of a constituent, one by Gwengwe and the other by the shadow MP.
During the funeral proceedings as captured in the clip, a group of unruly individuals, purportedly affiliated with the shadow MP, disgracefully dumped one of the coffins in front of Gwengwe, brazenly taunting him to accept it, even suggesting he use it for his wife. The ringleader of these actions explicitly expressed their disdain for Gwengwe, insinuating that he should limit his political ambitions to his native Dedza constituency saying they are done with him. Gwengwe used to be MP in Dedza before he switched to a constituency in Lilongwe.
Shire Times Senior Political analyst Joseph Makina says that such deplorable acts of political thuggery warrant unequivocal condemnation, and the responsible shadow MP must be held accountable for his egregious conduct.
