Political Chess: MCP Gains Mcheka Chilenje and Munlo, as Dausi and Joyce Chitsulo Hover on the Fringe

Mwaza MPs Joyce Chitsulo and Nicholas Dausi

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has operationalised a markedly aggressive political strategy in the southern region, employing a multifaceted strategy that involves captivating Chiefs, Religious Leaders, and influential business figures. Beyond these endeavors, the party is augmenting its strength by welcoming new members, a move designed to fortify its prospects of retaining political dominance in the upcoming 2025 elections.

The distinguished figure, Former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mcheka Chilenje, has now formally joined MCP, a significant addition to the party’s ranks. Another notable inclusion is Redson Munlo, who has also officially pledged allegiance to the MCP cause. These affiliations were publicly affirmed during a rally presided over by President Chakwera in Mwaza, marking the auspicious commencement of the construction of Mwaza Stadium on Friday.

Interestingly, subtle indications from Minister of Local Government Richard Chimwendo Banda and the Malawi Congress Party Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka suggest that Dausi has tacitly joined MCP.

In a metaphorical comparison, Mkaka likened Dausi to the biblical prodigal son, advocating for an inclusive approach, urging party members to welcome and embrace him without harboring any jealousy. This nuanced narrative adds a layer of intrigue to the political landscape, subtly underscoring the dynamic shifts within the MCP’s expanding sphere of influence.
