Malawi President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has praised NBS Bank for its generous sponsorship of the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) annual Thanksgiving Golf tournament held at Lilongwe Golf Club. He commended the bank’s commitment and steadfast support for the welfare of war veterans. During the prize presentation ceremony at Lilongwe Golf Club, President Chakwera mentioned that the golf tournament was a token of appreciation to the war veterans. He expressed that mere words of gratitude were insufficient for these disciplined ex-servicemen who had made a significant contribution to the nation.
Vice President Saulos Chilima also applauded the golfers for their participation in the tournament and appreciated the sponsors for their positive response to the invitation to support the event. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to the war veterans for their dedicated service to the nation.
Major General Chikunkha Soko, speaking on behalf of the Malawi Defence Force Commander, praised the war veterans for their sacrifices, bravery, and commitment in ensuring the freedom of Malawi. He acknowledged that the war veterans were facing various challenges, including physical, social, emotional, and financial difficulties. Major General Soko expressed his gratitude for the support the tournament had received from different stakeholders, including NBS Bank, MDF, Reserve Bank of Malawi, Standard Bank, Malawi Police Service, Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), Telekom Limited, and Mbabzi Estate, among others.
Dr. Kwanele Ngwenya, the Chief Executive Officer of NBS Bank, assured continued support for the Annual MDF Thanksgiving Golf tournament.
