Malawi President Chakwera happy with 2023 Presidential Charity Golf Tournament Preparations

The President of Malawi, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, held a meeting today at Kamuzu Palace with both the Main Committee and Organizing Committee of the highly anticipated 2023 Presidential Charity Golf Tournament, scheduled for October 7th at Lilongwe Golf Club.

President Chakwera praised the committees during his address, recognizing their surpassing of expectations in preparing for the upcoming tournament. He lauded their commitment to restoring hope and providing assistance to the less fortunate, considering the charity initiative a moral responsibility that reflects the ethos of self-sufficiency.

The President urged the committees to maintain their current momentum, advocating for the values of self-reliance and unity within the community. He acknowledged the significance of such benevolent efforts in uplifting the nation and expressed confidence that the 2023 Presidential Charity Golf Tournament would be a memorable occasion.

Leading the delegation was Chairperson Mr. Vizenge Kumwenda, alongside members like Mr. Gift Chidya Gondwe, Sophie Kalambule, Honest Chirwa, Duncan Chidzamkufa, and others.

Similar to previous years, this year’s event seeks to generate substantial funds to aid financially challenged university students and those affected by Cyclone Freddy.

With a notably ambitious target of 400 Million Kwacha for this year’s tournament, the organizing committee and Malawi’s golfing community showcase their dedication. Speaking on behalf of the committee, Gift Chidya Gondwe expressed their preparedness and unwavering commitment to ensuring the event’s resounding success. He underscored the honorable purpose driving the tournament, aiming to transform it into not just a memorable golfing event but also a catalyst for positive societal change.

The President’s words resonated with the committee members, who conveyed appreciation for his support and pledged relentless efforts to guarantee the tournament’s triumph. Through the collaborative endeavors of the organizing committee, the golfing community, and the endorsement of the President, the event is poised to become more than just an exciting sports competition—it will serve as a beacon of hope for those in need.
