Opportunities are descending on Malawi this year including extension of markets for its agriculture produce to new frontiers across the seas.
Latest opportunity has been disclosed by President Chakwera during an impromptu rally held at Msunde Trading Centre in the outskirts of Lilongwe where he went to participate in Sunday prayers.
In his remarks at the rally that was held impromptu after the prayers service, Chakwera hinted that he is bound for China where the Chinese Government has invited him to be a guest of honor at China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE).
State House sources indicate that President Chakwera nearly missed the opportunity as his administration expressed doubts on attending the event citing economic challenges that have forced President Chakwera to be operating on prudent mode.
The Chinese Government, which extended the invitation to President Chakwera to the CAETE slated to be held from 29th June to 2nd July 2023 in Changsha, Hunan Province in China offered to send a chartered commercial flight to pick President Chakwera and his entire delegation with all bills of their stay in China included.
The Malawi Government has welcome the gesture indicating that President Chakwera will not only go with Government officials but will also rope in local private business entities to market their products at the expo and make their own market gains.
The plane which the Chinese Government has offered to manage President Chakwera’s trip to and from China is said to accommodate up to 300 passengers and official delegates from Tanzania and Kenya have pleaded with Malawi to consider them spaces.
