Kandodo thanking Chakwera for wonderful Kamuzu Day

First of its kind. Representative of the founder of the Malawi nation, Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda, who is also spokesperson of the Kamuzu Family, Ken Kandodo has commended President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera for the honour given to the former President.

Speaking during the Kamuzu Day commemoration ceremony at Civo Stadium on Sunday, Kandodo said what happened at Civo had never happened before.

Kandodo urged the President to continue honouring the former President.

Hastings Kamuzu Banda was born on 14 May 1898 and died on 25 November 1997. Kamuzu Banda was the prime minister and later president of Malawi from 1964 to 1994.

From 1964 to 1966, Malawi was an independent Dominion / Commonwealth realm while in 1966, the country became a republic and he became the first president as a result of the Republic of Malawi.
