Love him or hate him, Dan Lu is a man of his own—and that’s the beauty of his independence. These days, the artist makes headlines, not for his music but for his open support for President Lazarus Chakwera. Yesterday, he hit hard on the youth, especially the foul-mouthed keyboard warriors.
In a scathing call-out, Dan Lu hit them with a reality check. “You talk all the trash, the nastiest stuff online, but hold on a second—did any of you even register to vote?” he asked, flashing his own voter registration certificate. Ouch. That stung, didn’t it?
Here’s the thing: Dan Lu gets it. He understands the game of numbers. Elections are about actual votes, not virtual likes or mindless social media rants. Opposition parties? They’ve got their “majority” youth—but it’s a majority made up of uninformed, lazy youths who barely make it to a voting booth because most of them do not care about registering for elections.
“Most youths in Malawi are uneducated. They care more about booze, Ganja, reckless sex, and barely give a damn about governance,” said a senior political analyst who, wisely, requested anonymity.
“If they were smart, Chilima would’ve been president in 2019 but they could vote because they didn’t register. But no, they stuck to ranting on social media, didn’t even register, and thought their online noise would magically make Chilima win. That is how irresponsible they are”
And that’s why, come September 2025, it’s a done deal as Dan Lu says. Dr. Lazarus Chakwera will waltz right back into the presidency. Why? Because the youth—too busy puffing and partying—will have only themselves to blame when they realize they didn’t show up where it mattered. Dan Lu knows it, and now, so should they.
