DPP Hypocrisy: Requires National ID for Convention, Rejects It for 2025 Elections

DPP top brass

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is proving itself to be a party that thrives on confusion rather than credibility as the 2025 elections approach. Their actions reveal a troubling inconsistency. On one hand, the DPP opposes the use of National IDs as the sole identification for voting in the upcoming elections, arguing that even a chief’s endorsement or alternative documents like school IDs and Bank Khonde Identification cards should suffice. This stance is particularly baffling given that the DPP was part of the legislative process that mandated the exclusive use of National IDs for voting.

Yet, in a glaring contradiction, the DPP has mandated that delegates attending their upcoming convention must present a National ID to vote, dismissing the very alternatives they advocate for in the national electoral process. This blatant double standard underscores the DPP’s lack of coherence and their intent to sow confusion rather than foster trust.

The message is clear: Malawians should be wary of taking the DPP seriously as their actions are more about creating chaos than providing a clear path forward. This inconsistency and disregard for their own rules suggest why the DPP is likely to face another defeat in 2025, as the people have lost trust in a party that refuses to learn from its past mistakes.
