UTM Not for Sale: Northern Youth Blame Kaliati & Njawala for Childish Decisions

Dalitso Kabambe

UTM youth from the Northern Region have penned an incendiary letter to the party’s leadership, vehemently condemning the reckless decisions to dissolve the Tonse Alliance and court Kabambe in a desperate attempt to sell the UTM’s soul to the DPP. The youth argue that these impulsive choices lack the party’s endorsement and blatantly disregard its best interests.

The youth assert they will not entertain any alliance with the DPP, emphatically stating that the DPP remains unrepentant and indifferent to their aspirations

“We refuse to be a commodity. We have heard rumours that Dr. Dalitso Kabambe has been proposed to join UTM and become our President, and that during the elections, there will be an alliance where Dr. Kabambe will become the running mate of Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika. We want to assure all UTM supporters in the North that this will never happen in our movement,” reads the letter co-signed by Andrew Soko, Mary Yasini and Fanizzi Gondwe.

“We are of the view that most of these decisions are being made without proper consultation and appears to be driven by personal animosity,” reads another statement from a concerned UTM member.

The concerned member then give his piece of advise to the misguided Kaliati saying “we need a more inclusive and transparent approach to decision making, one that honours Dr. Chilima’s memory and respects the wishes of the party’s loyal members.”
