Joshua Valera, a relative of the late Saulos Chilima, has urged certain Malawians who are attempting to tarnish the Chilima family’s reputation to stop and focus on their own matters. Valera, speaking on behalf of the Chilima family at a memorial mass held by the Catholic Church to honor Chilima’s life 40 days after his tragic plane accident in Chikangawa, Mzimba, emphasized their disinterest in pursuing government roles or UTM positions.
“Stop calling Madam Mary Chilima with such offers. We are still mourning Saulos Chilima and will continue to do so,” Valera stated, addressing those pressuring Mary Chilima to lead the UTM party. Additionally, a planned rally by UTM supporters at Nsipe Ground in Ntcheu was postponed, as the family found it inappropriate and insensitive.
