Silver Strikers coach Pieter De Jongh slams Mzuzu Stadium poor quality pitch

De Jongh

The controversial Coach for Silver Strikers Football Club fondly known Pieter De Jong has slammed the football authorities in the country for not taking care of Mzuzu Stadium’s pitch saying it is not fit to host competitive matches like Super League of Malawi games.

Said De Jong after his team played on this rough bumpy surface of the ground called Mzuu Stadium.

“I have a small dog, it’s four years old, it’s very small, but I think that my dog [would refuse to play] on this pitch (Mzuzu Stadium). The pitch is not good for professional football. It’s a big shame to play football on this pitch.”

A football Commentator going by the name of “Wa Ganyu” ascribed meaning to the remarks by the Coach saying what he meant was that the coach’s dog is wiser than the football authorities in charge of the pitch who cannot even see that the ground is in bad shape.

Much as Silver Strikers Coach is a loose cannon and very temperamental owing to his receiving of a yellow card during the opening game of TNM Super League at Bingu Stadium, what he said about Mzuzu Stadium is true and its high time the authorities managing this stadium did good to taking care of the pitch.
