Reverend Maurice Munthali, formerly the Publicity Secretary of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and serving as a Presidential Advisor on Peace and Reconciliation, has opted to realign himself with the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) party.
Having relinquished his positions within the ruling MCP in March of the preceding year, Munthali announced his re-affiliation with AFORD during a political rally held at Mwazisi in Rumphi. He cited the request from local leaders as the impetus behind his decision to return to AFORD.
Munthali intends to vie for a parliamentary seat under the auspices of AFORD, buoyed by the party’s resurgence in the northern region. He perceives an opportunity to secure victory on an AFORD ticket.
