Nearly 3,600 individuals have benefited from the maize distribution initiative valued at K14 billion spearheaded by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, the founder of Enlightened Christian Gathering and the Jesus Nation Church.
This revelation came to light as Bushiri extended the initiative to the jurisdiction of Traditional Authority Mazengera in Lilongwe, where 1,200 individuals received their allotted share.
Addressing the gathering, Bushiri emphasized the urgency of addressing hunger without politicizing food aid, stressing the need for collective efforts from individuals, corporations, churches, and organizations to support those facing food insecurity.
Member of Parliament for Lilongwe Mpenu Constituency, Eisenhower Mkaka, commended Bushiri for his humanitarian efforts in assisting the people of his constituency.
The food distribution initiative aims to reach one million individuals nationwide, with today marking the third day of distribution since its launch in Ntcheu on Saturday.
