President Chakwera Applauds Judiciary’s 2023 Medal of Merit from African Bar Association

Pres. Chakwera and Chief Justice Mzikamanda

It seems that Malawi is experiencing a wave of positive developments from various angles. Just a short while after Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera hosted a luncheon to celebrate the impressive victory of the Malawi women’s national soccer team, affectionately called the Scorchers, in winning the COSAFA 2023 championship by defeating Zambia, the President had the privilege of hosting the Judiciary members in recognition of the recent accolade they received from the African Bar Association.

“Hosted the inaugural Presidential Judges’ Dinner, which this year was convened to celebrate with Justices and administrators of The Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal who months ago were conferred the 2023 Medal of Merit in Leadership Award from the African Bar Association,” wrote the President on his Facebook page.

The award is in recognition of their untiring duty of promoting the rule of law and judicial independence.

According to Chakwera, Malawians must not forget the indispensable role the Justices play in sustaining the peace and prosperity of our nation as guarantors of the proper application of the rights and privileges accorded to every citizen by the Constitution of our Republic.
