A grim turn of events for the students of Mzuzu University. Just two weeks after they returned to their studies following the closure of the university due to violent protests against tuition fee hikes, a group of Bachelor of Science in Tourism students found themselves in a harrowing accident on the Nkhata-Bay Road.
According to Shire Times, the students were en route to collect research data in Kande and Kavuzi in Nkhatabay when their bus overturned. An eyewitness, Hope Dyson, confirmed that some students sustained minor injuries and were promptly taken to Mzuzu Central Hospital. Thankfully, there have been no reported fatalities.
