Mzimba South Parliamentarian Jere requests Mega Farm Component in CDF Package

Emmanuel Chambulanyina Jere, the Member of Parliament representing Mzimba South Constituency, has put forth a request to the Government regarding the allocation of funds within the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) specifically aimed at establishing Mega Farms. This initiative seeks to bolster efforts towards ensuring food security nationwide.

Addressing Parliament on Tuesday during discussions on the State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by President Lazarus Chakwera, Jere lauded the impact of the CDF, which he fondly referred to as the Chakwera Constituency Development Fund (CCDF). He expressed appreciation for the increased funding from K30 million to K100 million under President Chakwera’s administration, noting the positive outcomes witnessed in various constituencies across Malawi.

Highlighting the strategic importance of Mega Farms mentioned in the SONA, Jere proposed that each constituency in Malawi receive a dedicated portion of the increased CDF allocation to facilitate Mega Farm projects. He emphasized the enthusiasm of his constituents towards this initiative.

Furthermore, Jere appealed to the Ministry of Agriculture to consider the distribution of Urea fertilizer under the Agricultural Input Programme (AIP) in his constituency, particularly for maize cultivation.
