Mumba and Bendulo: The Lone Fighters Keeping MCP in the Ring

Let’s be blunt. In this critical hour of the election, two names stand out in the Malawi Congress Party: Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba and Antony Bendulo. Without them, the party’s silence would have left a vacuum wide enough for the DPP’s propaganda to swallow the nation whole.

Mumba, Chakwera’s running mate, has emerged as the fiercest voice countering DPP lies and psychological tricks. Bendulo, the sharp mind who once dismantled electoral fraud in court, is again calming nerves and exposing truths the opposition wants hidden. Together, they are the only ones shielding MCP supporters from the storm of misinformation designed to create the false impression that Peter Mutharika has already won.

This election is not just about ballot papers. It is about the battle for the nation’s mind. The DPP knows this, which is why they are working overtime to spread the narrative of victory before the Malawi Electoral Commission has spoken. Their goal is clear: when real numbers show MCP ahead, winning, or forcing a re-run, they will cry “rigging” and unleash violence. And yet, at this dangerous moment, most of MCP’s senior leaders have retreated into silence.

Respect must go to Mumba and Bendulo. They have refused to surrender the information battlefield. They understand that in today’s digital age, a single Facebook post can move faster than official statements. They know propaganda left unchallenged becomes “truth” in the public mind. They are doing the heavy lifting that others have shied away from.

But let this be a warning. If MCP leaders continue to stay quiet while only Mumba and Bendulo fight, even victory could turn bitter. Silence will make the country ungovernable. The psychological war must be fought with the same energy as the political one.

Mumba and Bendulo have shown the courage. The rest of MCP must now join them before the narrative is stolen for good.
