Ministry of Education distributes PPEs to Secondary Schools 

Central West EDM Joseph Nkhata makes a symbolic handover of PPEs in Lilongwe

The Ministry of Education through the World Bank-funded the Equity with Quality Learning at Secondary (EQUALS) Project, has distributed Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to Secondary Schools in the country.
The Ministry has procured 3,072 water buckets; 25,600 cartons of handwashing soap; 1,024,000 boxes of surgical masks; 51,200 400ml bottles of hand sanitizer; and 51,200 60ml bottles of hand sanitizers to be distributed to both public and private secondary schools across the country.
The distribution is being done through the six Education Divisions of the country.
Speaking after distributing to Central West Education Division, Secretary for Education, Chikondano Mussa said, “The Ministry was committed to ensuring that teaching and learning take place in a safe and secure environment for students, teachers and community at large hence it will continue providing support to both public and private schools in the country.”
Education Division Manager (EDM) for Central West, Joseph Nkhata, who made a symbolic handover of the PPEs to Secondary Schools in Mchinji and Lilongwe, called for prudent use of the PPEs.
This is the third time, the Ministry has distributed similar PPEs to some Secondary Schools in the country.
