MEC Says No Refund Once You Pay: On the Road to 16th Sept 2025

Mtalimanja

The clock is ticking — and the race to Malawi’s 2025 general elections has officially entered the danger zone. As of today, only 78 days remain until polling day on 16th September — a day expected to shake the nation like a political earthquake.

Like a storm gathering over a dry roof, the pressure is building — and for those planning to throw their hat into the ring, the message from the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is as clear as a whistle: no refunds, no excuses, no drama.

Whether you die, disappear, drop out, or change your heart like a chameleon on a mango tree — once you pay your nomination fee, it’s gone for good. Not even divine intervention can bring it back. In short, “money paid is like water spilled — it won’t return to the pot.”

So, before rushing in to impress supporters or settle scores, take a deep breath and check your bank balance. The official bank to pay the nomination fee is FDH Bank, and nomination papers must be collected from the council office where your ward or constituency is located. No shortcuts. No ghost submissions.

Nomination papers will be received by MEC from 24th to 30th July 2025. That’s the week when dreams will either take flight — or crash and burn.

As the saying goes, “He who enters the ring must be ready to bleed.” Once you commit, there’s no crying over lost fees or failed ambitions. It’s a do-or-die mission — and the political lions are already sharpening their claws.

This year’s election promises more heat than a Blantyre afternoon in October. Power-hungry veterans, political toddlers, and comeback comedians are all lining up to test their luck. But the rules are firm. The ballot has no room for second thoughts or buyer’s remorse.

So to all aspiring candidates — if you’re ready to run, run smart. Because Malawi is watching. The countdown is real. And this race is not for the faint-hearted.
