The governing Mighty Malawi Congress Party on Wednesday convened a National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting at its Headquarters, located opposite the Reserve Bank of Malawi in Lilongwe.
President Lazarus Chakwera presided over the meeting, reportedly focused on bolstering the party’s position ahead of the 2025 elections. Given the current political landscape and the disarray within the opposition, MCP is seen as the frontrunner for the 2025 elections.
In contrast, the opposition remains embroiled in internal conflicts, diminishing its appeal to voters.
