Richard Chimwendo Banda, the National Youth Director of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), demonstrated his prowess over the weekend by expanding his party’s influence into new territory—Mangochi. Addressing the people of the Eastern Region, Chimwendo emphasized the commitment of his party’s government to ongoing national development. Chimwendo, who also holds the position of Minister of Local Government, Unity, and Culture, delivered this message during a rally held in Namwera within the Mangochi District.
Chimwendo stated that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s government is making steady progress in ensuring an equitable allocation of development initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the population.
“What we are doing as Government is to work hand in hand with traditional leaders and communities. We need the chiefs to be at the forefront in supporting Government interventions designed to improve people’s welfare at all levels,” said Banda.
The Minister has assured the people of Namwera that the Government intends to provide maize to households facing food insecurity and to restore the Mangochi – Chiponde Border Road.
