Malawi Veep Chilima departs South Korea with optimism for Malawi’s economic growth

Malawi Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima few hours ago has departed South Korea, brimming with hope and conviction that the Korea-Africa Summit will soon yield substantial benefits for the Malawian people, a mission entrusted to him by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

In an enthusiastic address to the media at the summit’s conclusion, Dr. Chilima revealed that the two-day event will swiftly translate into tangible benefits, highlighting several immediate opportunities for growth.

Chilima emphasized that the trade and agriculture agreements forged between Malawi and Korea will notably boost agricultural production aimed at the export market, heralding a new era of prosperity for Malawian farmers and the nation at large.

The Vice President extolled the summit’s significance, noting that Malawi’s participation alongside over 50 heads of state and government was invaluable. During the summit, Dr. Chilima engaged in high-level discussions with Korean Prime Minister Dr. Han Duck Soo and former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who now leads the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), an organization dedicated to fostering sustainable economic development in developing nations, currently comprising 48 member states.

Furthermore, Dr. Chilima took the opportunity to connect with Malawians residing in South Korea, discussing various developmental initiatives and fostering a sense of national pride and unity.

With a heart full of optimism and a vision for Malawi’s bright future, Dr. Chilima is en route back home, expected to arrive on Sunday, ready to implement the promising prospects garnered from this pivotal summit.
