Malawi President Chakwera Arrives in New York for UNGA

Malawi’s President, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, has landed in New York, United States of America, to participate in the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). President Chakwera was warmly received by Malawi’s Ambassador to Washington, Justice Esmie Chombo, Malawi’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Agness Chimbiri Molande, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, and other distinguished guests.

During his visit, Dr. Chakwera will engage with development partners to discuss Malawi’s recovery efforts in the aftermath of recent cyclones. Furthermore, he is scheduled to address the assembly on September 21st, delivering the Malawi National Statement.

President Chakwera will also deliver speeches at the UN Sustainable Development Goals Summit and the Millennium Challenge Compact Meeting. Additionally, he will host the Invest in Malawi Business Summit and the 2023 Malawi-Partners Conference.
