Malawi Pres. Chakwera pledges continued development for Mangochi

Mangochi Rally

The Malawi leader, President Lazarus Chakwera, has assured people of Mangochi of his government’s commitment to uplift the tourist-attraction district through social-economic development.

Chakwera was speaking on Thursday afternoon at a development rally, soon after he had officially commissioned the multibillion Kwacha Mangochi extension water supply project.

In his address to multitudes of people at Mangochi Stadium, the Malawi leader said despite challenges such as effects of climate change affecting the country; his government will fulfil promises made, by among other things completing projects that are underway and those that are yet to commence.

He therefore said completion of the Mangochi Extension Water Supply Project, which will benefit over 92 000 Malawians with potable and clean water in Mangochi is a clear example of how devoted his government is.

However, the State President condemned conduct by some people, whom he said were greedy and only care about their own will.

He mentioned of the construction of Makanjira road in Mangochi, whose designs he said were already done, but hidden by some people.

Chakwera assured people of Mangochi that government now has the plans, and that it has funds for the project, and this coming November, he will be signing the project with the donor partner.

In his remarks, Secretary General for Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Eisenhower Mkaka commended President Chakwera for considering all regions of the country in implementation of developments.

Mkaka cited the Malawi electrification programme, which he said government is working towards ensuring that all areas, both rural and urban have access to electricity.

Mkaka asked the electorate at Mwasa Ward in Mangochi to vote for a Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Councillor, Stewart Mwase, as the area goes for by-elections in November this year, in order to have a representative who will bring development in the area.

Speaking earlier, Traditional Authority (TA) Mapira commended government for the projects that are implemented in Mangochi and asked the Malawi leader to continue providing people in his area with relief food items through the department of Disaster Management Affairs.
