The late seasoned statesman John Zenus Ungapake Tembo, a departed veteran in Malawian politics, will receive a funeral with full military honors, Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera has ordered. According to a statement signed by Information Minister Moses Kumkuyu, the military honor has been granted to Tembo to acknowledge his significant contributions to the nation.
The final resting place for the late JZU Tembo will be Kaphala Village in the jurisdiction of Senior Chief Kaphuka in Dedza. The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4th, 2023.
“Government wishes to inform the general public that His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi has directed that the late honourable JZU Tembo be accorded burial with full military honours as a former cabinet minister and in recognition of the enormous contribution he made to the nation,” reads the statement dated 30th September 2023.
