President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has nominated individuals to serve on the Malawi Peace and Unity Commission. These nominations are effective November 2, 2023, pending approval by the Public Appointments Committee of the National Assembly.
The selected commissioners are Sheikh Dr. Ali Makalani, Reverend Zacc Kawalala, Bishop Mary Nkosi, Paramount Chief Kyungu, Dr. Francis Mkandawire, Simon Munde, Mwandida Theu, and Emma Kaliya.
According to a statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet, the commission will also include the Secretary for Peace and Unity, the Solicitor General, and the Secretary for Homeland Security.
