Malawi High Court to Hear Nankhumwa’s Challenge Against DPP Expulsion

Nankhumwa: To challenge his firing in Court

The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) faces a relentless onslaught, with successive legal battles dominating their landscape. The latest episode unfolds in the high court in Lilongwe, where the anticipated commencement of hearings this afternoon revolves around an application lodged by Kondwani Nankhumwa. Nankhumwa, the legislator for Mulanje Central Constituency and leader of the opposition in parliament, contests his expulsion from the Democratic Progressive Party.

Originally slated for this morning, the hearing has been rescheduled to 2 pm today, presided over by Judge Yakuwawa Msiska. Nankhumwa’s expulsion, along with other officials, stemmed from his organization of a National Governing Council meeting without adhering to party protocols. However, the Mulanje Central legislator contends that his expulsion violated the party’s constitution.
