Malawi Deputy Police Chief Mkandawire for renewed fight against corruption

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) responsible for administration Happy Mkandawire has called for fresh efforts in the fight against corruption in the Malawi Police Service (MPS).

Mkandawire made the stance when he addressed senior and junior police officers at the Northern Region Police Headquarters Officer’s Mess on 10 February 2023 during an Institutional Integrity Committee (IIC) meeting.

It is also responsible for organizing functions/activities aimed at corruption prevention.

He added that the MPS has embarked on efforts to ensure everything is being done towards fighting corruption of which the organization has recently been rated highly by various research institutions.

“This committee will help us take stock of what is being done in dealing with corruption within ourselves”, he emphasized.

“If you escaped free yesterday, don’t expect you will not be caught tomorrow, please stop corruption”, cautioned the DIG.

She said a lot of community engagement meetings are being employed through community policing services in all districts across the region.
