Joshua Mbele Races to Supreme Court to Escape K75 Million Kwacha Defamation Blow

Joshua Chisa Mbele

Malawi’s social media firebrand Joshua Chisa Mbele has been dealt a crushing blow with a staggering K75 million kwacha defamation verdict in favor of Innocentia Ottober, whom Mbele had branded as a “corruption arranger.” Ottober, who suffered reputational damage from Mbele’s incendiary claims, triumphed in court as Mbele’s defense crumbled.

Despite Mbele’s pleas for leniency, citing his age, ongoing chemotherapy for cancer, and financial hardship, the court remained unmoved. Instead, it hammered down a K75 million kwacha penalty, adding the weight of legal costs to his burden. Mbele now faces the harsh reality of his social media recklessness.

However, Mbele says he will go to supreme court:

“On matters of MK75 million. We don’t comment on matters which are in Court. Except to observe as follows: Gerald Kampanikiza was sued. Court punished him with MK4,000,000. Mneneri wa Mulungu akuti ndi Olemera kwambiri apereke MK75 million. The best place to solve madness & opportunism is the Supreme Court,” said Mbele.
