As Malawi continues to grapple with numerous social and economic issues, the country’s former leaders claim their share in building the status quo which highlights ineffective leaderships engulfed in self-service at the expense of the country’s forwards strides toward tangible development.
Glezeldar Jeffrey, the former Secretary General of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and now a member of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), has pointed a finger at former President Mutharika and his predecessors while speaking during a whistle-stop tour and voter mobilization rally held by President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera at M’bang’ombe Trading Centre in Lilongwe.
“I witnessed firsthand the impact of Peter Mutharika’s governance. He is at the heart of Malawi’s current challenges. However, we are grateful for the visionary leadership of President Chakwera, who has bravely taken steps to address and rectify these issues,” Jeffrey stated.
In his address, President Chakwera urged the public to maintain hope for the future, emphasizing that his government is focused on building sustainable infrastructure for the benefit of Malawians today and for generations to come.
Chakwera also encouraged citizens to register to vote in large numbers in preparation for the upcoming general elections.
Zebron Chilondola, the Central Region Chairman of the MCP, reinforced the call for voter registration, urging supporters to actively participate in the electoral process and cast their votes for President Chakwera.
Local Member of Parliament Gladwell Chimdzeka commended Chakwera for the various developmental initiatives progressing in her constituency, reflecting a positive shift under his leadership.
