Eastern Chiefs Join Hands with President Chakwera to Drive Malawi’s Development Agenda in the Region

 

MANGOCHI – In a significant move to foster collaborative development, President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi met with traditional leaders from the Eastern Region to discuss ways to improve the delivery of public services to communities.

The high-level meeting, held at the Chikoko Bay State Lodge, brought together the President and a delegation of prominent traditional leaders from the region. The agenda was centered on how the government and traditional authorities can work hand-in-hand to transform the livelihoods of the people through infrastructure projects and development programs.

Speaking at the event, President Chakwera emphasized the vital role traditional leaders play as stewards of culture and in supporting the country’s development agenda. “Your leadership and guidance are essential in driving the transformative change we envision for Malawi,” he said, addressing the traditional leaders.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from both the government and traditional authorities to sustain their collaborative efforts. The Chakwera administration pledged to continue providing the necessary support to all chieftaincy structures across the country, recognizing their invaluable contribution to development work.

In the coming days, President Chakwera is scheduled to inspect some of the ongoing projects his government is undertaking in the Eastern Region, further strengthening the partnership between the state and traditional leadership.

The engagement between President Chakwera and the traditional leaders underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to working closely with all stakeholders to fulfill the promise of a “New Malawi,” as reflected in the hashtags “#BuildingANewMalawi” and “#Zikutheka.”
