The Malawi government, under the purview of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Masauko Chamkakala, has opted to discontinue legal proceedings involving three citizens of Ndirande Township. These individuals had been apprehended on allegations of obstructing and pelting stones at President Lazarus Chakwera’s convoy the previous Friday. Chamkakala has officially confirmed this development to the local media on late thursday night.
The trio, comprising Pearson Chimimba and Hector Ndawala, apprehended on Monday, and Lucy Namba, detained on Tuesday night, had been facing charges encompassing three counts: intent to endanger the safety of individuals traveling by road, criminal negligence, and failure to stop for the State President.
