DPP Initiates Purge, Expels Nicholas Dausi

Dausi: Has been expelled from DPP.

The Democratic Progressive Party, despite its name, which suggests democracy, has initiated a purge, and its initial target is Nicholas Dausi, the Member of Parliament representing Mwaza Central Constituency and the party’s Publicity Secretary.

In the notice of expulsion served to the Malawi public signed by Shadreck Namalomba, Dausi “…has been expelled from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) with immediate effect.”

“This follows a recommendation by the Disciplinary Committee and a decision by the cenral executive committee of the party which found Hon. Dausi guilty of three misconducts contrary to article 6(1) (v), (vii) and (viii) of the DPP constitution,” in part reads the statement followed by an unequivocal statement that “Hon Dausi ceases to be the Party’s Member of Parliament and its publicity Secretary.”

According to insiders, the next individual in line for this purging process will likely be Kondwani Nankhumwa, the Leader of the Opposition. Nankhumwa has openly expressed his desire to compete in the party convention for the position of the party’s President, consequently positioning himself as a potential presidential candidate in the 2025 election.
