DPP Doomed in 2025: Pemphero Mphande and Lyson Sibande Dismiss APM’s Comeback Bid

Mphande

Renowned analysts Lyson Sibande and social media influencer Pemphero Mphande have both concurred that the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is headed for a crushing defeat if it insists on fielding the 84-year-old Peter Mutharika as its presidential candidate in the 2025 September elections. Mphande criticized Mutharika, describing him as both aged and lacking the necessary competence to lead.

“If Peter is elected in 2025, he will finish his term aged 90. Now, tell me why should a country where the majority of people are young be led by an old man who led one of the most corrupt regimes in recent memory? Iyeyo dziko ndi la kwawo, chani? Be serious!

He added:

“Peter was the first elected President to lose an election because he led the worst and most corrupt government. He was rejected by Malawians and he didn’t even have the energy to win a re-election. What makes you think he can win in 2025? Si muli serious ma strategist aku blue camp.

According to Mphande, the fact that Peter is still DPP President only proves that DPP is a family and tribalistic party in that everyone else who is not a Mutharika was scared to challenge the old man in that “those who tried like Nankhumwa were kicked out.”

He told DPP cadets his peace of mind:

“It’s sad to see young people attacking me to defend a senile old man who can’t even produce one coherent sentence. You people don’t love your country and are led by greed and selfishness. DPP has many energetic people who could have led your party. But they are all cowards and selfish. They have forced Peter to stand so that they can get back in power to resume the stealing. Peter will be asleep half the time and they will be the ones stealing. Does your party hold a future beyond a Mutharika? Can you challenge Peter and boot him out? If the answer is no, continue crying!”

On his part, Sibande, had few soul searching questions to DPP cadets as follows:

“1. How can you say you love Malawi and ask APM to be it’s president at 85? He will be President until he is 90. Does that not bother your conscience?

“2. How can you say you love APM and ask him to run for president at 85 ? Dont you think the old man has worked enough in his life and must enjoy his retirement. How do you find sleep at night after torturing this old man?

“3. And to you APM, how can you claim you love your DPP and Malawi but still want to be leader until you are 90?

“4. How can you say you love our country, when you plan to have an electoral alliance of parties led by youthful leaders in their late 40s and early 50s but fielding a retired presidential candidate who is going towards his 90s? Don’t you feel sorry for yourselves?”

All pointers, according to analysts, indicate that Lazarus Chakwera of MCP will win with about 51 % of the total valid votes next year.
