Double Tragedy for Wanderers: Silver Streaks to Victory with 4-1 Win Against Karonga FC

Wanderers FC suffers second straight defeat

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers faced a crushing defeat for the second time this season, falling 2-0 to the Mzuzu City Hammers at Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday.

After their first defeat last Sunday at the hands of league leaders Silver Strikers, who also beat them 2-0, Wanderers were desperate for a comeback. Despite featuring a new starting eleven, the team’s performance remained lackluster.

Reports before the game indicated that some key Wanderers players were ill and doubtful to play, adding to the team’s woes.

Mzuzu City Hammers’ rising star, Isaac Msiska, formerly of Civo Service United, struck twice at 19’ and 45+2’, bringing his season tally to six goals from eight games, tying him as the league’s top scorer with Civil Service United’s Emmanuel Savieli.

Meanwhile, in Area 47 at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe, Silver Strikers triumphed over Karonga United with a thrilling 4-2 victory, boosting their points to 22. Silver’s goals came from Uchizi Vunga 5’, Mark Fodya 69’, Stain Davie 81’, and Chimwemwe Idana 90+6’. Karonga United responded with goals from Saulos Moyo 23’ and Nanison Mbewe 77’.

In other matches, Baka City failed to escape the relegation zone, settling for a 1-1 draw against Creck Sporting at Karonga Stadium. Baka City’s Geoffrey Mwakyembe scored at 31’, with Creck Sporting’s Babangida Ishaya equalizing at 68’. Baka City remains anchored at the bottom with three points, still seeking their first win of the season.

Mafco celebrated their second win of the season, edging FOMO 1-0 at Chitowe Stadium. Martial Maluwa’s 77’ goal secured back-to-back victories for Mafco, following their 1-0 away win against Bangwe All Stars last weekend. FOMO, on the other hand, suffered another defeat, having lost 1-0 to Creck Sporting the previous weekend.
