Chinese President Xi Jinping Invites Malawi’s President Chakwera for State Visit

Upon arrival on Friday at Kamuzu International Airport from South Africa where he participated in the BRICS Summit, President Lazarus Chakwera revealed that Chinese President Xi Jinping formally invited him, as the leader of Malawi, to embark on a state visit to China. President Chakwera emphasized that the meeting with Xi further solidified the bilateral partnership, aiming to accelerate rapid infrastructure development and ensure macroeconomic stability.

“I stated to President Xi, Malawi’s deep gratitude for the support his government and the people of China continue to render in areas such as education, telecommunications, infrastructure and during Cyclone Freddy devastation. Chinese President Xi expressed appreciation for our unwavering support of the One-China Policy and for being a leading voice at BRICS and other multilateral platforms advocating for the interests of developing nations,” said the President.

The President further said that China will support our efforts to build resilience against climate shocks and achieve Malawi’s developmental aspirations.
