President Lazarus Chakwera’s ongoing voter registration mobilization tour is witnessing remarkable success as he inspires multitudes to participate in the upcoming elections. Having commenced his initiative last week in Dedza district, Chakwera has been on a mission to galvanize citizens across the country to register and prepare for the polls scheduled for next year.
During his second week of the tour, President Chakwera visited various locations in Kasungu district, including a notable stop at Gogode trading center, where he urged local communities to take advantage of the voter registration opportunity. Addressing a crowd of enthusiastic supporters, the president emphasized the importance of civic engagement and the power of each individual’s vote in shaping the country’s future.
The President also dedicated time to address local agricultural issues, particularly concerning the predominant cash crop, tobacco. He expressed optimism about the upcoming growing season, encouraging farmers that the positive market prices observed in the previous year could improve further. “As you saw this year, the prices for tobacco were good. This coming season, we want to build on that and have better prices,” he confidently stated.
Acknowledging the various social and economic challenges faced by the nation, which have included recurring disasters such as drought, President Chakwera urged Malawians to remain resilient and committed to hard work. “For the four years I have been president, we have experienced disasters every year. However, let’s not give up until we overcome the challenges and have households that are independent,” he encouraged, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to improving the livelihoods of citizens.
The positive reception of Chakwera’s voter registration campaign has been echoed by local leaders, including Ken Kandodo, the Member of Parliament for Kasungu. Kandodo praised the Chakwera-led administration for its various development initiatives, such as the ongoing M1 Road rehabilitation project, which he believes will significantly benefit residents and enhance economic opportunities in the region.
