As a reward for his development-oriented policies under the Tonse Alliance-led government, President Lazarus Chakwera has been given the name Ngwazi, the highest honor bestowed by Ngonis in Mzimba.
Chakwera follows in the footsteps of Professor Bingu wa Mutharika and Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda, two famous Ngwazi leaders.
Speaking at a rally at Emvuyeni ground in Mzimba North after Chakwera’s crop inspection, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Regional Governor for North-South Joseph Chavula said what President Chakwera has done in his two years as Malawi leader is commendable which many now are referring to old days when Malawi was prosperous under Ngwazi Kamuzu Banda.
Meanwhile, Malawians from different walks of life have positively reacted to the news citing many achievements by the current administration.
On social media, people have been sharing the achievements so far done by Chakwera like free water connection, security officers house projects, K100, 000 tax free band, recruitment of thousands of secondary and primary teachers, no more killings and abductions of persons with albinism, AIP beneficiaries increased from 900, 000 to 3500000, among others.
