Chakwera Pledges to Turn Lizulu into an International Market

Chakwera with Gomani

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has promised to transform Lizulu in Ntcheu North into a modern international market, positioning the area as a key hub for trade and economic growth.

Speaking during a whistle-stop rally at Lizulu Market on Wednesday, Chakwera said the market’s location on the border with Mozambique makes it strategic for cross-border trade.

“Lizulu is a big market and being a border market with various food commodities and many other businesses, it deserves to become an international market,” Chakwera said, adding that factories would also be built for processing and value addition.

He noted that colonial borders divided people who are in fact one, pointing out that just across in Mozambique lies Inkosi Zintambila, a Ngoni chief like the people of Ntcheu.

Chakwera urged residents to vote for him as president and for MCP parliamentary candidate Everlisto Chodzadza, saying their partnership would deliver development.

Paramount Chief Gomani V welcomed the President’s visit, describing it as encouraging and a sign of government’s commitment to the district.
