Malawi President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera emphasized that the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) remains a crucial partner for Malawi in fortifying the groundwork for inclusive and sustainable development. These remarks were made on September 23, 2023, during a meeting with Afreximbank’s President, Professor Benedict Oramah, in New York, United States of America (USA). The Malawian leader is presently in the US to participate in the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) conference.

Chakwera expressed his gratitude to Professor Oramah and his team for their instrumental role in achieving the staff-level agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
