Captivating Scenes as President Chakwera Embarks on Developmental Tour of Zomba

 

ZOMBA – The bustling city of Zomba witnessed a palpable air of excitement today as His Excellency, President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, graced the region with his presence, accompanied by the First Lady, Madam Monica Chakwera.

The presidential entourage, which included Vice President Dr. Micheal Bizwick Usi and other esteemed government officials, as well as prominent Zomba business leaders, embarked on a comprehensive tour of the city’s burgeoning development projects.

The president’s first stop was the vibrant Zomba Main Market, where he was warmly welcomed by the jovial vendors. Immersing himself in the vibrant atmosphere, President Chakwera engaged in a purchasing spree, economically interacting with the hardworking merchants with his patronage.

Moving on, the presidential party visited the impressive Zomba Stadium, which is nearing completion. Addressing the enthusiastic crowd that had gathered to catch a glimpse of the head of state, President Chakwera reassured the people of Zomba that his administration remains committed to fulfilling all the promises made to the nation. He expressed his vision of transforming the stadium into a hub for international sporting events, providing the residents with a world-class venue to witness the thrill of global competitions.

The Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture, Richard Chimwendo Banda congratulated the Chakwera administration for delivering on the promise of a modern stadium, a stark contrast to the dilapidated facility that had previously stood in its place.

Echoing these sentiments, Zomba Mayor Councillor Christopher Jana commended the president for reviving long-abandoned projects, breathing new life into the city’s developmental landscape.

The presidential tour continued with a visit to the Domasi Community Hospital, a facility that had fallen into neglect since 2012 but has now been revitalized under the Chakwera administration.

The head of State is set to preside over the official handover of the Domasi New Infrastructure and the Nalikule College of Education at the Domasi College of Education, further cementing his commitment to transforming the lives of the people of Zomba.
