What a refreshing story as Bakhresa Malawi has begun producing refined cooking oil using its newly installed machinery at its Blantyre plant, marking a significant milestone in local agro-processing.
According to company official Richard Tchereko, the factory is already producing high-quality oil that has been certified by the Malawi Bureau of Standards for market distribution.
Tchereko noted that the next step involves sourcing large quantities of soybeans from Malawian farmers, a move expected to create a reliable market for local growers and boost agricultural income.
The initiative, which dovetails with the ambitions of Malawi 2063 and President Lazarus Chakwera’s Agricultural Transformation and Market Mechanization (ATMM) Strategy, stands as a testament to the country’s drive toward inclusive economic transformation and homegrown industrial empowerment.
