Jail Time Looms Over Former Presidential Bodyguard over “there will be explosions and gun shots at ACB” threat

Chisale: There will be explosives and gun shots

Norman Chisale, the former bodyguard of ex-Malawi President Peter Mutharika, faces the prospect of imprisonment due to the threats he allegedly made against public officials.

Testimony from Hillary Chilomba, the security personnel for the Deputy Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, and the eighth state witness in the case against Chisale, contains damning evidence that could lead to his incarceration.

The witness said he overheard Chisale speaking on top of his voice and he quoted “ACB and MCP you are destroying my life”, I’m failing to pay school fees for my children, I wanted to meet the Director General”.

“The accused added that next time when he will come, he will not leave the place until the date for hearing of his case is set. He added that there will be explosions and gun shots at ACB”, added Chimanga.

The lead prosecutor in the case, Prescott Mwaiulipo, informed the court that two additional witnesses, including ACB Deputy Director General Hillary Chilomba and former Director of Public Prosecutions Dr. Steven Kayuni, are scheduled to testify today.

Initially, the state had announced that Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo would also testify against Chisale, who faces seven charges related to intimidating public officers and obstructing justice
