The President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu, will be arriving today to spice up Malawi’s independence celebrations, which are scheduled for July 6, 2023. Malawi gained independence from Britain, and it has become a tradition to commemorate this event in order to uphold and preserve the Republic.
Suluhu’s three-day state visit will conclude on Friday, July 7, when she is expected to depart from Malawi through Chileka International Airport to Dodoma. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that Samia is visiting Malawi upon the invitation of Malawi State President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the public that Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, will arrive in the country on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, to begin a three-day State Visit, at the invitation of His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi,” stated the Ministry Statement.
During her stay in the country, Suluhu is expected to participate in various activities, including attending a national service of worship and serving as a special guest at the 59th Independence celebration. Additionally, she will engage in bilateral talks concerning issues of mutual interest between the two countries. Furthermore, Samia Suluhu Hassan plans to visit an area affected by Tropical Cyclone Freddy.
The visit is anticipated to strengthen the already robust bilateral relations between Malawi and Tanzania, which are founded on historical ties, mutual interests in improving the living standards of the people, traditional exchanges between the two nations, and a shared commitment to regional and global cooperation.
