The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Sosten Gwengwe has said the government has resolved to effect an 8 % salary increment and also that they give them transport allowance.
The Minister also said senior government officials will be having an opportunity to buy their official vehicles after five years as is the case with cabinet ministers.
On duty-free commodities, the government says solar products including gas appliances and hotplates will also be free of duty. The Finance Minister is presenting the national budget in Parliament in Lilongwe.
