Peter Mutharika says his brother Bingu was poisoned

During a press conference held at his PAGE House in Mangochi, former Malawi President Peter Mutharika told Malawians that he would be celebrating his 82nd birthday on Monday saying his brother Bingu Wa Mutharika would also be alive if he was not assassinated.

Said the former President:

“Bingu was poisoned…in fact, something was put in his orange juice at 10. It is a fact that I know the people. I even know the name of the poison but I will not tell you,” said the former President.

Bingu Wa Mutharika is said to have died of cardiac arrest. The DPP tried to conceal the death to avoid Joyce Banda from taking over but in the end, Joyce Banda ascended to the Presidency by the operation of the constitution of the Republic of Malawi.

In the press conference, Mutharika says he will seriously consider contesting for the presidency in 2025.

President Mutharika told a reporter that “I am 82 years old, so you have to speak out louder,” wondering how he will serve the President if he happens to context and win the Presidency.
