Nyasa Big Bullets put on a stunning display to beat Red Lions 2-0 away from home at Balaka Stadium, moving to the top of the TNM Super League despite having played one game more than second-placed Blue Eagles.

In an action-packed first half at Balaka Stadium, Babatunde Adepoju and Captain Chimwemwe Idana scored goals for the ‘peoples team.’

The outcome is a typical over to you moment for the Blue Eagles, who play Dedza Young Dynamos away at Balaka Stadium on Sunday, looking to maintain their impressive start to the TNM Super League in 2022.

The win also means Bullets now have 26 points from 10 games; second placed Eagles are on 25 points with a game in hand, while Red Lions sit on  9th position with 11 points from 9 games.

Speaking after the match, Bullets mentor Callisto Pasuwa praised his team’s performance during critical phases of the game to gain the win.

“We had a good first 45 minutes and created so many chances but in the second half we became sleepy and the opposition was in our half but we managed to get the two goals and it’s our day,” said Pasuwa.

But his counterpart Nelson Chirwa bemoaned his team’s lack of concentration especially in the midfield which cost them the game.

In the first half our midfield was overrun by our opponents and this largely affected our game play. After changing some things second half you saw the team playing well but we could not get the breakthrough,” decried Chirwa.

Elsewhere, Moyale Barracks produced one of their better performances of the season to beat struggling newcomers Sable farmers 0-2 away from home at Chiwembe, Stadium thanks to a brace from Raphael Phiri.

The win brings much needed respite for under pressure Pritchard Mwansa who now has enjoyed two wins in a roll after also defeating Karonga United at home last weekend.

The much needed win moves Moyale into the top half of the table at 6th position, with 13 points from 11 games while Sable Farming are still languishing second from bottom (15th) with 5 points from 8 games.
