Two days ago, Parliamentarian for Chikwawa Nkombedzi Constituency, Abida Mia who is also Deputy Minister of Lands, led the people of her constituency in observing the National Clean Up exercise at Ngabu trading centre.
In her speech, Mia commended the communities in her constituency for positively responding to government calls on the need to create a clean environment that is conducive for healthy living.
She urged the business community in the area o hold hands with the leaders of the Area Development Committee and the Market Committees, to ensure that all markets and surroundings are always clean all year round hence capable of attracting investors.
Mia pledged to donate wheelbarrows, shovels, and other utensils for the local committees to be using during the cleanup exercises.
During the exercise, Mia was joined by District Commissioner for Chikwawa District Council, Ali Phiri and other officials.
Senior Chief Ngabu, Council Chairperson Aubrey Masanza, and MCP Regional Chairman for the South, Peter Simbi were among the notables that took part in the activity.
Malawi leader, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera launched the National Clean-Up initiative every Friday of the second week of the month.
