The Students Law Society (SLS) delegation from the University of Malawi (UNIMA), headed by their patron Professor Garton Kamchedzera, paid a visit to the Ministry of Justice in Lilongwe yesterday. Their purpose was to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable Minister of Justice, Titus Mvalo, and the Honorable Attorney General, Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda, for their instrumental roles in tabling and passing the Legal Education and Legal Practitioners (Amendment) Bill of 2024 in the National Assembly.
During the meeting, the team also raised important issues regarding the potential implications of the amendment and discussed essential steps for its effective implementation.
Both the Minister and the AG expressed their appreciation for the efforts made by the SLS delegation throughout the legislative process. The minister acknowledged the challenges involved in passing the Bill and emphasized the significance of the amendment. Currently, the Bill awaits approval from His Excellency President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to become law.
